All of the professionals at Real Life Prosthetics have met the rigorous training requirements and passed the required examinations of the American Board for Certification (ABC). ABC is recognized in the United States as the highest standard of education and professionalism.
Our technicians are ABC registered, and our prosthetists and orthotists are ABC certified. In addition, the Real Life Prosthetics staff at all levels participate in continuing education to keep pace with the latest advancements in the field and maintain their knowledge of human anatomy, material science, bio mechanics and normal and pathological human locomotion.
Jonas W. Seeberg,
President of Real Life Prosthetics
Jonas W. Seeberg, BS, CPO is President of Real Life Prosthetics and a member of an elite group of practitioners who have been certified by the American Board for Certification in orthotics and prosthetics (ABC). He received his collegiate degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics at California State University Dominguez Hills in Los Angeles California. He interned at some of the nation's leading institutions for prosthetic and orthotic practice, including the VA Hospital in Long Beach, Orthopedic Hospital in Los Angeles and the Jacquelin Perry Institute at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey. He completed his residency in Baltimore, Maryland, during which he provided artificial limbs for amputees at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Kernan Hospital, and Sinai Hospital. He currently specializes in lower extremity prosthetics, custom silicone high-definition prosthetics, and prosthetics for athletes. He is clinical director of the Real Life Prosthetics team and assists with the Research and Development program.
Gregory J. Michalov, CP, ROA
Director of Research and Development
Gregory J. Michalov, CP, ROA, Director of Research and Development,
is one of only 3,300 ABC Certified Prosthetists. He has over
19 years of clinical experience, including key positions at Össur
USA, an international leader in prosthetics technology. While
there, he directed continuing education efforts, conducted
R&D studies on silicone suction socket technology and served
as a product advisor to the company’s
research and development department in Reykjavik, Iceland.
At Real Life Prosthetics, Greg currently heads the prosthetic residency program, mentoring the aspiring prosthetists as they gain patient experience in the field. Greg is also active with Life and Limb Ministry working to provide prosthetic care for the indigent amputees in Colombia, South America.
James M. Wilson, Sr.
James M. Wilson, SR., CO, R.P.A., is certified in orthotics by the American Board for
Certification. He has 30 years of orthotics and prosthetics experience, including
research and development of hybrid carbon design lower extremity orthoses at Real Life
Prosthetics and continued work as a Veterans Administration Qualified Prosthetist. To
complement his work as a certified orthotist and a prosthetic technician, James draws
upon his degree in fine arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. He blends
artistry with his technical skills to produce more lifelike orthotics and prosthetics for
patients who are concerned about appearance. He also provides development and support for The Amputee Network website and blog. When not at Real Life Prosthetics, James, who is an
accomplished musician and sound designer, can be seen playing drums and percussion with O’Malley’s March, The Bobwhites, and numerous other musicial groups in the
Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area, or he can be found in his studio recording.
Steven P. Lattanzi, CP,
Steven P. Lattanzi, CP, has successfully completed his prosthetic education studies and graduated from Northwestern University. He has grown with Real Life Prosthetics, having completed his residency criteria here as well as having previously worked at Real Life Prosthetics in other capacities. He is now an American Board Certified prosthetist. Steven worked 8 years in the pedorthic shoe field. He worked another year and a half as a liason for Real Life Prosthetics speaking with and visiting allied health care professionals regarding various prosthetic services and products. Steve has shown himself to be an incredible asset to the company and a great benefit to our patients. We welcome him as a permanent member of our clinical staff and are pleased and inspired to have watched him grow from within our own ranks.
Michael Kaczkowski,
Director of Alloplastics
Michael Kaczkowski, Dir. of Alloplastics, has over 20 years of experience in alloplastic restoration. He is an artist and inventor known for creating new alloplastic skin technologies that can only be recognized as non-flesh under harsh scrutiny. He is the inventor of numerous alloplastic technologies including Dermatos®, Livingskin®, Derma~FlexTM, MyoDermTM, Derma~HairTM and Derma-TanTM to mention a few. His technologies have been highlighted in the press, both locally and nationally, as well as international magazines including Men's Health, The Ladies Home Journal, and Stuff Magazine. Additionally his work has been seen on television broadcasts including The Learning Channel, The Discovery Channel and the hit TV series ER. Mr. Kaczkowski has also been profiled in several national publications and newspapers. He has authored various articles for amputee, prosthetic and health journals, including inMotion, First Step, in-Step and The World Health Organization Journal. He is an active public speaker, delivering lectures and in-services to many professional organizations, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and private companies both nationally and abroad.
